We’ve had a busy week with the glamping guests – all (I hope) seem to have had a lovely time despite the very changeable weather – it’s been glorious sunshine one minute and torrential hailstones the next!! The grass is growing though, which is good for the farm, but more challenging when we have to mow the lawns twice a week!!
We now provide all guests with a small welcome gift of some handmade Organic milk soap – this is made by our son, Patrick (who some of you may have met doing children’s fishing lessons). The profit from selling his soap is going towards a World Challenge trip to Africa in 2024. It’s made from the raw organic milk from Bays Leap Dairy farm in Heddon-on-the-Wall (where I am their resident vet). The other ingredients are organic olive, coconut and castor oils. The soap is both cleansing and very gentle on your hands. Bays Leap have a brilliant farm shop where you can buy their raw and pasteurised milk, milkshakes, and delicious ice cream – all made from their milk! If you take a trip towards Newcastle when you stay with us, call in and investigate their shop (and see some of the cows!).
You can buy extra soaps in the Fishery Lodge if you’d like to support Patrick in his challenge! He’s also making delicious dog biscuits! So if you bring a dog with you, you’ll also get a free sample of his doggie training treats… again – there’s more to buy in the Lodge if you’d like to (or your dog would like you too?!!).
We were also really pleased to be featured in the Guardian newspaper Travel section on Monday as one of the best Glamping sites in the North! What a lovely acknowledgement of our efforts!!
Hope to see you all soon!
Jo and Ben
